1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BaggageIQ browser extension and the baggageiq.app website (together, "BaggageIQ"). By installing the extension or visiting the website you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please uninstall the extension and don't use the site.
2. What BaggageIQ does
BaggageIQ is a browser extension that reads flight search results on Google Flights, Skyscanner, Kayak, MakeMyTrip, Booking.com and Expedia and overlays an estimated baggage surcharge next to each flight, using a database of airline baggage policies maintained by the project. The goal is to help you compare the real total cost of flights before you book.
3. Accuracy of the estimates — important
Read this carefully. BaggageIQ fee and card-benefit estimates are approximations based on publicly available airline and card-issuer policies. They are not quotes, bookings, or guarantees.
Airlines change their fees, bag allowances, and fare-type rules frequently. Card issuers change their benefits, eligibility, and booking requirements. Regional routes, promotional fares, elite status, and codeshare agreements can all alter what you actually pay at check-in. Always verify the final cost on the airline's own website (and your card's terms) before booking.
We maintain the database from public sources and refresh it regularly, and every entry shows a "Verified MMM YYYY" timestamp in the tooltip. You can report a wrong fee from the tooltip's Notes tab. But we cannot guarantee every fee is correct at every moment for every fare class on every route.
4. No warranty
BaggageIQ is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent allowed by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the extension will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any specific fee estimate will match the airline's final charge.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BaggageIQ and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the extension or the website — including but not limited to:
- Differences between BaggageIQ's estimated fees and what the airline actually charges you
- Booking decisions made based on BaggageIQ's Real Price or score
- Card benefit subtractions that didn't apply at checkout (e.g. because you didn't book on that card, or your card terms changed)
- Parser failures, incorrect overlays, or missed flights
- Service interruptions or data unavailability
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or bulk-export the airline or card benefit databases for commercial use
- Abuse the corrections endpoint with spam, bogus submissions, or automated traffic
- Use BaggageIQ to circumvent airline fare-class policies or terms of service
- Use automated tools (other than BaggageIQ itself) to scrape the website or API
Commercial use of the airline or card benefit data is not permitted without written permission.
7. Right to modify or discontinue
We may change, suspend, or discontinue BaggageIQ or any feature at any time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always live at baggageiq.app/terms.html. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
8. Third-party services
BaggageIQ relies on several third parties. Your use of BaggageIQ is also subject to their terms where applicable:
- Google Flights, Skyscanner, Kayak, MakeMyTrip, Booking.com, Expedia — each has its own terms. BaggageIQ reads their flight results only when you grant per-site permission.
- FormSubmit.co — processes feedback form submissions.
- kiwi.com — airline logo CDN used by the extension tooltip.
- GitHub Pages — hosts the website and the remote database snapshots.
9. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or BaggageIQ will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, India, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
